Abstract

Aims: Values are one of the most important elements that keep societies together. In this study, the effect of value-themed digital stories prepared for the sixth grade social studies course on students' attitudes towards values was examined. Methodology: The research was conducted in a middle school in Ankara city center during the 2024-2025 academic year. Sixty middle school students participated in the study. In this study, one of the quasi-experimental designs, paired pretest-posttest control group design was used. A value scale developed for middle school students was used in the study. The data collected in the study were analyzed using SPSS 20 program. In order to decide on the appropriate analysis method, the normality assumption was first examined. In this study, it was found that the distribution was not normal and the data were analyzed using nonparametric tests such as Wilcoxon signed rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: It was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the pre-test scores of the experimental and control groups meaning that both groups were at a similar level in terms of their attitudes towards values before the intervention. When the post-test scores of the experimental group and the control group were compared, a significant increase was found in favor of the experimental group. This finding revealed that value-themed digital stories positively affected students' attitudes towards values.
