A Rare Case of Subserosal Fibroid with Grade 1 Fatty Liver in Scrub Typhus: A Case Report

Scrub typhus is one of the leading causes of acute febrile illness in India. Few cases of scrub typhus have been reported from North east India but more studies are required to study the pattern of the disease. The case reported is of a 45 years old female with fever, headache, abdominal pain and eschar in the lower abdomen. IgM ELISA showed positive for scrub typhus. Whole abdomen Ultrasonography showed subserosal fibroid alongwith grade 1 fatty liver. This disease is often associated with Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS), hypotension, deranged hepatic function, cardiac problem, kidney failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, meningoencephalitis and if left untreated it may lead to death. But association of subserosal fibroid with scrub typhus is not reported till date. More research is required to understand the mechanism of this disease.
