Abstract
Introduction: Injuries around Hip joint is one of the most common injuries in the elderly population. The Injuries around Hip joint are most commonly derived from simple low-energy trauma. Fracture Intertrochanteric Femur and Fracture Neck of Femur is one of the most common fractures. The Singh Index (SI) is a simple, semi quantitative evaluation tool for diagnosing osteoporosis with plain radiographs. Osteoporosis is a common metabolic bone disease characterized by reduced bone mass, microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, and an increased risk of fragility fracture. Objectives: To compare the radiological outcome accordingly to Singh’s Index. To evaluate radiological evidence of visibility of the trabecular types that can be seen in the femoral neck on Radiograph Antero-posterior view Pelvis with Both Hips after giving Vitamin D3 and Calcium supplements. Materials and Methods: At Krishna institute of medical sciences, Karad from July 2018 to January 2020, 200 cases of Fracture Intertrochanteric Femur and Fracture Neck of Femur were included in the study. Conclusion: In our study of the Injuries around Hip joint of 200 patients, on screening of Radiographs by Singh’s Index we have found that most of the patients were osteoporotic Grade 4 Singh’s index. These injuries can be avoided by giving Vitamin D supplementation to patients above 50 years / senior citizen regularly.
