Awareness of Farmers Regarding the Utilization of Drones in Agricultural Operations

Abstract

The present research study was taken up in 2024-25 in five villages of Mandya district in Karnataka state. In the mechanized era of agriculture applications of Drones have go special importance, but in reality, majority of the farming community is not aware about their usage. Hence, in this research study we are studying the extent of awareness of farmers regarding the Utilization of Drones in Agricultural Operations. In total 100 farmers were interviewed for the purpose in all the five villages of Mandya taluk. The respondents were personally interviewed using a pre-test schedule. Expost-facto research design for followed in the study. It was found that a greater number of farmers (40.00 %) were more aware regarding the utilization of drones in agricultural operations, whereas 32.00 and 28.00 per cent of the farmers were aware and more aware regarding the utilization of drones in agricultural operations, respectively. Variable such education, landholding, annual income, farming income, mass media exposure, innovativeness, achievement motivation, risk orientation and extension participation of farmers were having significant to highly significant relationship with the awareness regarding the utilization of drones in agricultural operations. Therefore, the Farm Universities, ICAR institutes and state line departments etc. should popularize the use of drones in agriculture by conducting demonstrations of drones in performing various agricultural operations.
