Abstract

The increasing need for water has become a significant cause for worry regarding the future of irrigated agriculture in numerous regions of the country. Hence, understanding the water requirements of crops is a crucial practical aspect for enhancing water utilization efficiency in irrigation methods. Conventional irrigation systems result in uneven water distribution, with certain sections of a field receiving excessive irrigation and others facing insufficient water supply. Given the evolving environmental conditions and water scarcity, there is a demand for a more effective system to manage field irrigation efficiently. The objective of this paper is to examine the necessity for soil moisture sensors in irrigation, explore sensor technology and assess their applications in various facets of agriculture and irrigation scheduling.
