Methodology & Limitations
ScPedia Score of a Journal
Modelled on the methodology used for CiteScore (as available in Wikipedia — en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CiteScore), the ScPedia Score is calculated by dividing the total citations credited to documents published during the N complete calendar years preceding the current year by the total number of documents published during the same period.
The current, still-in-progress calendar year is always excluded. For example, a 2025 score would use data from 2022–2025 and would exclude any data from 2026.
H-Index of a Journal
The H-index is the largest value h such that at least h articles published by the journal have each received at least h citations. It is calculated across the journal's entire publication history rather than being restricted to a specific citation window.
Known Approximation / Limitation
For the purpose of calculating the ScPedia Score, "Citations received" represents the all-time combined citation count for each document. This combines the platform's resolved citation index with citation counts reported by external sources.
This is used as an approximation because the available citation sources do not provide citation-event timestamps that identify the specific year in which each citation was received. Consequently, a citation associated with a document published within the calculation window may have been recorded before or after that publication window.
Therefore, the resulting figure should be interpreted as a real and reproducible citation ratio based on the platform's indexed data, rather than as an exact replication of any particular commercial citation metric.
